Batabanp Carnival Parade

|
Well the last night my parents were here the island had the Batabano carnival parade ( Bat-a-Bano). The Carnival is a local celebration involving a masquerade party, children's parade, adult parade and street fair. Like most things on the island the exact time when it started wasn't made easily know (happens a lot). We ended up waiting for almost two hours as more and more people gathered on the street. Once the parade came we found out the wait was worth it. We all were smiling as soon as we heard the music and saw the performers. You can't easily explain it all, the performers danced all the way down West Bay road and into Georgetown (tiring but still up for photos and dancing when they reached us). The floats were packed to the hilt with speakers as people danced along after them. The crowd is expected to participate in with the fun. Once the parade hit Georgetown all the people gathered around downtown and joined in on the street fair. I blame it on my parents for heading home early and not fully exploring the street fair (all though I was just as tired if not more from wandering around town that day). I apologize for the pictures but it was hard to not get blurry shots they just were moving so much.
